Supporting the Armed Forces Covenant

Earlier this year Nudge Factory was proud to sign up to the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. As Remembrance Day approaches, it seems appropriate to highlight just what a good scheme it is, and encourage others to similarly sign up to the Covenant and support our country’s servicemen and women.


The truth is, the Covenant itself does not ask for much; many of the pledges it asks businesses to make you would hope would already be factored in to most companies’ plans as a basic recognition of the work our service personnel do, and the unique situation their partners’ find themselves in. For instance, the driving principles of the scheme are simply that:

  • no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen
  • in some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved.

In signing up to the Covenant, and to deliver on those principles, Nudge Factory has promised we will:

promote the fact that we are an Armed Forces-friendly organisation by publishing our Corporate Covenant Commitments through our literature, website and social media;

  • seek to support the employment of veterans, Service spouses and partners, and supporting those we employ;
  • endeavour to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment;
  • seek to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including by accommodating their training and deployment where possible;
  • offering support to our local cadet units, either in our local community or in local schools, where possible;
    aim to actively participate in Armed Forces Day;
  • continue to raise money for charities linked to the Armed Forces and veterans.

The Covenant is flexible and the pledges you make can take account of the size and sector of your business and other local factors.

We would encourage as many companies as possible to sign the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant themselves and help ensure that our Servicemen and women, and their partners, get the recognition, support and – sometimes as needed – the assistance they deserve, in return for all they have done and continue to do for us.
